ETA HARINGTON-DE VISSCHER PRIZE
The Harington-de Visscher Prize (formerly the Sir Charles Harington Prize) was established by the generosity of Mme Jacqueline de Visscher. The prize is awarded on alternate years to a member of the Association, less than 42 years of age, who has made a significant contribution to thyroid research (rules see later) The prize winner delivers a lecture at the annual meeting in the year in which the prize is awarded.PRIZE WINNERS

PRIZE RULES
1. The prize will be awarded on alternate years to a scientist not older than 42 years, working in Europe or any country bordering the Mediterranean Sea.2. The prize will be awarded to a scientist who, in the opinion of the Executive Committee, has made a significant contribution to thyroid research over a period of time.
3. Candidates for the prize may be proposed and seconded by any two Ordinary or Honorary members of the ETA. The proposer should submit the candidate's curriculum vitae and a short citation (of no more than 500 words) indicating the nature of the candidate's personal contribution to thyroid research to the Secretary-Treasurer of the Association by the deadline for the submission of abstracts for the Annual Meeting of the ETA.
4. Candidates must be members of the ETA.
5. Proposals will be considered by the Executive Committee of the Association. The final decision will be reached by secret ballot of the members. The prize will be awarded to the candidate obtaining an absolute majority of the votes cast at the abstract selection meeting.
6. If the Committee decides that no suitable candidate has been proposed, the prize will be awarded the following year.
7. The recipient will be asked to deliver a lecture at the Annual Meeting of the ETA.
